Damn you 13.3. And 12.4 (same thing).

I really haven't embraced this whole blog thing, but thought it's about time to write!  Sheesh!

So us Crossfitters are currently in the soup we call the Crossfit Open.  SO SO glad I didn't sign up this year!  See, while I like to tell myself I'm not a competitive person, others around me have gently disagreed with me from time to time.  Last year I did sign up, and discovered that, hey, they're right!  I AM competitive!  Huh, who knew?  Um apparently everyone but me!  Competing in the Open last year made me crazy (again lots of "friends" have pointed out I became crazy-ER).  Even though it doesn't have to be fun to be fun, I didn't like it at all.  I would visit the leaderboard multiple times a day (20 or 30 is multiple, right), clicking refresh to see if I had moved down in the standings.  I did every wod at least twice and only bettered my score by a few reps each time.  So depressing.

This year I decided to take a different approach.  I wouldn't sign up (saving $20 in the process), and planned on doing each wod once.  I finished 13.3 this morning, and am so glad I don't have to face that particular piece of loveliness again.  Last year for 12.4, I got 130 then did it again and got 135.  Big whoop.  This year was no pressure other than the desire to better my score.  I've made lots of progress the past year in my lifting and hoped it would be reflected in a higher score.  154!  Yay!  I made it through the wall balls (hell), and got 4 double-unders.  I am currently battling a cold, so my breathing was definitely compromised (another Crossfitter said he could hear me breathing outside)!  I'll take it!

Ah crap.  I just checked the leaderboard and currently I would be Top 10 worldwide and #1 in my region in my age category.  Maybe I should rethink competing in the Open next year after all!
